Spring, 2004: TIP #8xxxx

Archives:

Tip#1: Begin at the beginning

Tip #2: See the whole

Tip #3: Learn to walk before you run

Tip #4: Read, read, read!

Tip #5: Never take advice from blowhard authors with personal websites

Tip # 6: Strive for a story that resonates

Tip # 7: Never write a second book

Write a book that you would love to read.

Write a book or story that you would love to read yourself. Better yet: Write something you cannot find ... but you hunger for. This is the purest motivation, from my perspective, for a writer to write. Don't chase a market, or try to please an audience, or take any advice from anyone regarding what to write. Write something you cannot find on the shelf but would be delighted to read ... and then sit back and count the offers that flood in!! I'm serious. The bottom line is, if you can keep yourself engaged, the readers will follow!
